GEN3 is a third generation runway de-icer designed to keep runways clear of ice for longer periods, without the corrosive effects to airport vehicles and aircraft associated with traditional de-icing products. GEN3 reports savings of up to 20% on fluid through less frequent application.

The GEN3 formula combines polyols with a variety of organic salts and bio-based additives, without any glycols, ensuring friction improvements are maximised on active runways and taxiways. This results in onward efficiencies for airports as less runway time is required for snow removal equipment, enabling aircraft to continue to land with minimal disruption.

With manufacture close to point of use, Leeds-based LNT Solutions is well placed to ensure continuous supply of GEN3 to LBIA when it is most needed – during winter weather events that make delivery by road difficult to achieve from further afield.

Richard Duncan, Airside Operations Manager at LBIA said:

“Leeds Bradford is pleased to support and work closely with LNT Solutions, a fast growing local Yorkshire business. The GEN3 de-icer introduced at LBA has already delivered exceptional results in the most challenging of wintry conditions over the past 6 weeks allowing aircraft to operate with minimal disruption.”

Philip Newton, UK Commercial Manager for LNT Solutions said:

“Forming a new partnership with our local airport with a ground breaking product is very exciting for us. Leeds Bradford International Airport joins a growing list of early adopters of next generation runway de-icers worldwide

Since our introduction to the market, we have continuously invested in research and development to produce innovative products which secure operational efficiencies as well as improving experience and passenger safety for our customers. It’s great to see these products now in use locally as well as on the continent and across the Atlantic.”

LNT Solutions has also been supplying Highlands and Islands Airports in the Western Isles following successful trials and are in talks with multiple UK airports for the supply of GEN3.
